VISITING AN ATTORNEY’S OFFICE SHOULD NOT BE A STRESSFUL OR UNCOMFORTABLE EXPERIENCE.
My role is to help you understand risk, avoid issues, and solve problems. Discussing your options does not involve condescension or intimidation. I want clients to ask me questions and to fully understand important considerations, which sometimes go beyond the mere text of the law.
Our first visit is frequently a confidential conversation and nothing further. If you want to think about next steps before committing to a plan of action, that is normal. Potential clients and existing clients should not feel pressured to move forward until ready.
If you decide to hire me, I want you to be comfortable with me and pleased with my services. If you cannot recommend me to a friend or family member after my work for you is complete, then I have not met my own expectations of service. I aim to deliver on these four commitments with every client:
1. I will work diligently and carefully on your behalf. My prior work has demanded a high level of accuracy and professionalism, and that is what each client deserves.
2. I will personally communicate with you in a timely manner. A common complaint I hear about attorneys is that they simply fail to follow up with clients. My commitment is to keep clients informed and to communicate directly with them.
3. I will make every effort to complete your work within the time frame that we discuss. A legal matter is likely one of the most important events in the client’s life at the moment and therefore deserves prompt attention. If factors out of my control are in play, I will try to set expectations accordingly.
4. I will treat you with respect and kindness. I do not approach clients with a feeling of superiority. While I will know more about your legal matter than you do, you will know more than I do about your business, your family, and other things beyond the scope of my knowledge. My job is to help you see the legal aspects and issues of your situation and to advise you accordingly.
